Göran Lundin has been an effective coordinator of the Swedish Crane Working Group (a working group within SOF) for many years. Recently, he took the initiative to this book. The result is great, with reports on the Crane's status all over Europe. This species has always caused interest to people in general, to ornithologists as well as scientists. All of them will meet the Crane in this book in such a way, that their interest in the bird will grow both wider and deeper.
The reader meets the Crane on its network of important sites in Europe This network of localities is described through the rich contacts Göran Lundin has established in most European countries. Breeding, migration, resting and wintering of Cranes are brought together and integrated with conservation, discussion and pure information. The editor is to be congratulated to a book which most people will enjoy from many aspects. This is a real guide to the European Crane, its living and environment.
